The Black Rooster Pub was established in 1970 and has been known to many as the "Cheers" of NW Washington, DC. It is not unusual to see a mixture of patrons enjoying their favorite libations side by side - from lawyers to construction workers, businessmen to rugby players, and secretaries to dart shooters. Looking around the room, you will notice many period decorations - the back bar imported from England, the authentic stained glass ceiling panels and the extensive collection of beer and whiskey mirrors from the British Isles (many of the distilleries depicted are no longer in existence). The 200-year-old welsh carvings behind the bar illustrate the four most important periods in a Welshman's life. The panel is finished with a carving of a magpie, which is good luck in Wales. The Rooster has a long tradition in the darting community and is known throughout the city as the pub to go to when interested in darts. The Rooster also sponsors several dart teams who are always interested in new members. The Rooster is also the proud sponsor of the the Northern Virginia Rugby Football Club, as is evident bu the collection of trophies and game balls throughout the pub. We pride ourselves in the quality of our spirits and ales, including an extensive line of Irish whiskeys, scotches, vodkas and other spirits. Our dining fare - lunch or dinner - is hearty and of excellent price quality value. No one leaves hungry! We also are always interested in hosting functions, private parties and simple get-togethers.
